Diaguitas Collection
For this collection we rescued the heritage of the Diaguitas, the communities that were located in the Argentine Northwest, especially in the Calchaquí Valleys.
The Diaguitas were farmers. They produced corn, squash and beans. They also raised llamas and guanacos and obtained meat and wool from these animals. Thus they developed the production of excellent quality fabrics.
The geometric lines they applied to textiles were also present in face paint: lines and triangles around the eyes. They wore ponchos, hats, and wore leather sandals that they tied with wool cords. They also wore headbands, pins, earrings and breastplates.
We are inspired by the art they developed: they were excellent potters. The ceramic pieces represented the design of sacred animals, such as rheas, which announced the rains, and snakes, associated with water falling from the sky.
The Diaguitas began in metallurgy with the extraction of copper, gold and silver, materials that they also used in their accessories. With the bone they made elements for their looms: authentic factories of unique fabrics.
We study and learn from our ancestors to dream of a future that preserves textile memory and ancestral techniques.
